Program Outline and Schedule

Virtual Recruitment Lecture

The virtual session will discuss what will be learned in future training sessions, answer questions, and gauge interest. Instructors will introduce attendees to Incremental Development Alliance, The Guild, and incremental development as a concept.

Housing Justice and Project Advocacy Session

‣

4-week Small Development Bootcamp

Participants will work through exercises like building and refining their pro forma, creating an investor proposal package, and drawing out the zoning parameters for their lot. Participants also practice pitching their project to the group and instructors in order to get feedback in a supportive environment. By the end of the Boot Camp, participants will have a draft pitch package for their project and a to-do list to keep their momentum going.

3-Month Developer Cohort

Cohort development helps trainees sustain and expand on the knowledge gained during the Boot Camp to further advance their/their organization’s project. Cohort members will engage Faculty for the regularly scheduled meet-ups, including for example:

  • Sessions to meet and informally ask questions and overcome challenges
  • Liaise with local lenders or professional service firms
  • Engage in topical discussions relevant to development in the area and impacts on their project
  • Potentially build relationships with city staff members to support the project
